Do you have an idea for how long my machines (although i have 2 pairs) would have to work ??? 1 games takes between 4h and 8 hours depending on the move number. Maybe YOU have that time. :-))) I can only spent 10 or 20 games. Than i have to do something else. IMO it is obvious that although Mchess8 is from 1998, it is still capable to play good games. Only that the hash-tables are limited to 64 MB and there are only stephen edward tablebases. Also the book may have a difficult time against todays books. but all things together would be no big deal to change IMO. But Marty seems to be completely overworked in the moment. He has to do other jobs. Thats the pity, that his computer-chess-programming stage has been destroyed once by mean-business men, who betrayed him. Since that time he had not enough TIME to work on the program. But the program itself is still very good and has something NO other program has. I think Andreas Wutzke (who designed his so called "Gepard"-style), Sandro Necci and my Manichäer style show this. Thats a result of the capitalistic system. its a fight. and only those survive who made the right decisions in capitalism. No matter how talented or genius they are, capitalism is killing them when they make wrong contracts. IMO business is different than programming computerchess. And not everybody who is good in programming computerchess has a good hand for making contracts. It's a pity. And it's not Marty's fault. I think Marty still has many "fans" who like his program. I am sure one day - when he finds the time - he will come back. As long as that is not happen, we have to look back and thank him for the programs he gave us over the years. Mchess was an enrichement in the computerchess scene, and i miss it. I will play more games. But consider that the games are 40/120 and that it takes some time. Especially when the autoplayer crashes or stops in the night when i cannot react because i am sleeping. Best wishes to all Mchess-Fans !
