Subject: CM9: something wrong with the GUI?

Author: Kurt Utzinger

Something must be wrong with the CM9-GUI (v1.0.1). Some days ago I posted a
position with the following comments:

Is the new Chessmaster 9000 (TheKing 3.23) running better under Fritz7-GUI? I am
somewhat puzzled but this may be true. When testing the position

[D]8/8/K6p/6p1/8/8/k5PP/8 w - - 0 1

I got different and partly worse results under CM9-GUI whereas under Fritz7-GUI
using Wb2Uci.eng and Wb2Uci.exe the test can be repeated with still the same
solution time and evaluation.

In the meantime I have found a much better example where CM9 finds the winning
move 1.Kg2 only after more than 9 minutes on (P4 1800/32 MB hash). When however
using TheKing 3.23 under Fritz7-GUi with Odd Gunnar Malin's adapter Wb2Uci.exe,
the program finds the solution at once showing mate announcement.
