In the meantime I have further tested this position under Fritz7-GUI with
tablebases deactivated and renamed the folders "tbs" to "xtbs" and "egdb" to
"xedb". And in this situation, TheKing 3.23 does not play 1.Kg2 at once with
mate announcement, but the engine still finds the winning move rather fast:

Zugeordnete Felder 1.Kg2 - Cheron 0717
[D]8/4k3/3p4/3P4/2P5/8/8/5K2 w - - 0 1

Analysis by The King 3.23:

1.Ke2 Ke8 2.Kd3 Kd7 3.Ke3 Ke7 4.Kf4 Kf6 5.Ke4 Ke7 6.Ke3 Ke8 7.Ke2 Kd7 8.Kf3 Ke7
9.Kg4 Kf8 10.Kf4 Ke8 11.Kg5 Kf7 12.Kf5
  +- (1.64) Tiefe: 3 00:00:00
  +- (1.68) Tiefe: 22 00:00:23 6146kN
1.Kg2 Kf6 2.Kf2 Ke7 3.Kg3 Kf7 4.Kf3 Ke8 5.Kg4 Ke7 6.Kg5 Kf7 7.Kf5 Ke7 8.Kf4 Kf6
9.Ke4 Ke7 10.Kd3 Kd7 11.Ke3 Ke7 12.Kd4 Kd7
  +- (1.78) Tiefe: 22 00:00:33 8613kN
  +- (1.79) Tiefe: 24 00:01:20 22170kN

Who is able to solve this mystery?
