Set up any position with any four pieces (since you said that you don't have the complete 5-piece set, we'll use four). Open the "Coach" window and check the "Advice" tab. All legal moves are listed in this tab, and each one should have a "White Mates in...", "Black Mates in..." or "Game is Drawn" in it, depending on the position. Then, for further proof, with the same position, set the game so that the Chessmaster personality is playing both sides (make sure that the time control is not "Infinite"). After pressing "OK", the game should play itself out "instantly". If neither of these things happen, then you have either a corrupted installation, or you modified something that caused the GUI to fail to see the EGDBs. jm
