I'm not a lawyer and so am unqualified to say what is legal. However I make backup copies of all of my CDs. Nobody but me knows about it, so there is no problem. Actually I make backup copies of very few protected CDs, because I seldom buy that kind of software anymore. My ordinary CD copy software from Adaptec/Roxio usually works OK. But when needed I use CDClone from Elaborate Bytes which I downloaded quite awhile ago, when it was still freeware. I'm not exactly sure about it now, but here's a couple of leading links: http://www.elby.de/ http://www.gamecopyworld.com/ WP
