It is not the same situation because Gandalf is a commercial
program.

I disagree.
Lot of money?

Programs in the past had bigger price.

Every year?

No.

Hiarcs has not new version every year and the same for
Nimzo and gandalf.

other programs seem also to be less than one per year
Junior have versions 4.6,5,6,7 (4 versions)

1998,1999,2000,2001,2002 are 5 years

Junior4.6 came after Junior won wmccc in paris(december 1997)
I guess that Junior8 is going to come only after Junior ? Kasparov
(december 2002)

the 5th version is 5 years after the first version(1 per year means that the
5th version is 4 years after the first version).
