Assuming the developer was working 'after hours', this probably equates to
something like 6 to 9 man months of development, which makes the achievement
even more remarkable.

I wonder if 'he who travels fastest travels alone'? Certainly, not much could be
achieved in commercial software development in 6 to 9 man months given the huge
organisational drag (N people working on a project means that N-1 have to be
kept informed of each decision ... all before a single byte appears).
