Answering to your post Bruce: If your program does not want to play Qxg7, because it does not like the open g-file, than your program is IMO right. When it evaluates the position only 0.6 (for black or for white ?!), than it would be wrong. Black is IMO better after Qxg7. And white is IMO negative when it rejects Qxg7. But we can ask strong chess players or try to analyse ourselves... The problem for some programs seems to be IMO that there is nothing concrete. White is still ahead in material. Even when it plays Qxg7. Only programs smelling the things ...
