Subject: My quickest mate yet against Palm Genius ...

Author: Mike Byrne

Date: 04:23:26 09/24/02

I recently started reading "A Psychiatrist Matches Wits with Fritz" by Ernest
Pecci. I don't know if made me better chess player - but it is now far easier
for me to score against a program like the Chess Genius for the Palm. I used to
score less than 10%. I'm now scoring around ~50% - just by following some of
his ideas in the book.

Here's another game played - this one follows the the Pecci scheme a litte more
closely. He give many examples in his book that are similiar to the game below.
Notice the lock pawn formation and the manuever of the pieces to the front of
the white king. Many of the wins are < 40 moves using Pecci "system".

After 22. Rag1 - Classic Pecci setup. Note how both knights have been bought
over and the aresnal of power on the right hand side. This setup allows the
player to avoid complicated combinations, thus freeing him to set manuever his
pieces into position without fear of counterattack.
