Being WB compatible has nothing to do with chessbase.

Winboard is a free interface.
Frank criticizes also chessbase for not doing Junior or Fritz WB compatible.

Being WB compatible can allow the commercial programs to play in more
tournaments.

Leo is testing all the stable winboard engines in his tournament.

Gandalf5 plays in the AM/com
Tiger,Fritz,Junior,Rebel do not play there

The question is what is the motivation of programmers to do their engines not
winboard compatible.

Are they afraid that more people are going to copy and steal their engines if
they can play also in the winboard interface?

Uri
