Every engine is an engine. Not important for me: Commercial or not! For you: UCI: Shredder 5, Deep Shredder, 6, 6 Paderborn Gandalf 4.32h (so far not available) The programmers need a little bit time, the same for WinBoard for years! I understand :-)) 24 free available engines! WB: Nimzo 2000a - 2000b Gandalf 4.32f-h, 5.0-5.1 TheKing 3.12, 3.23 Rebel (comming soon?) Shredder 3.0 (with code) So far 155 free available engines! CB: Tiger Fritz Hiarcs Junior (older Doctor, and only Ikarus from the older Young Talents) The "specially sausage" Fighter! Only compatible ones to itself. Not bad words, a little bit joke but fact that this group of engines are no compatible to standards! >So again you speak, pretending to speak for all (!) users. Ganz schön vermessen. If we have 160 compatible engines to WB and UCI and only 5 or 6 are not compatible to standards is this not in German "vermessen" -- I have not the English word for "vermessen" (maybe measured). This is fact, all users can see it. It's a little bit measured that you wrote that my sentence is measured! My sentence is fact, no more no less. Look we have Ruffian and 154 other available Engines. And commercial firms can used all. So it's the right way to give also a little bit if firms used standard protocols. >So what? Does anyone force you to buy this Tiger? No. Do you have a RIGHT to be >able to use Tiger as WB/UCI? NO! It is the author's and distributor's decision. >When it works no longer and sales decrease, they might change their mind and >make Tiger available as CB/WB/UCI engine. It is their decision, NOT YOURS! This is clear. The author must know what he make. But I am not the author and I am not a firm. I am a user and have interest to added all engines with supported standard protocols to my favorite GUI. And I believe I can write which wishes I have. I make this now 4-5 years and much user have on this work. Exctly 6 Million of hits in 2 years Frank's Chess Page. Here I wrote about all GUIs, engines and what we have. In this time the most commercial GUIs added WinBoard support in his GUIs. Good ... the firms see that a lot of users have interest. I must thinking on your words about WinBoard for 3-4 years in different chess fora. The old autoplayer fan Harald Faber have other interest but your interest and the interest of the most group of persons are different interest. I know to which topics user have interest and main theme at the moment are engine protocols and different engines (for analyses, eng-eng matches or eng-eng touneys). >>In my opinion the false way to say to all groups of GUIs >>fans ... you can only used for Tiger engine GUI x or y. So the firm which for >>sell a chess software give every group of users an "must used" of the way. >And? "Bill Gates, you MUST release Word for Linux too and for Mac so that all >users in the world can decide for themselves under which OS they use Word." >You are a dreamer, far away from reality and commercial markets. You are a dreamer is a little bit hard. A dreamer which make a little bit and not speak with "bad tongue" :-) >>The best computer chess engine is an engine "All in one" :-) >>WB/UCI Support and all users of the world have fun. >This is again YOUR defintion of "best engine". >Can you imagine there are other opinions? Maybe, but you don't accept them. A >pity. You're a victim of your one-track-Winboard/UCI-mind. I mean with best support from the important engine protcols. My other opinions stand in 30.000 messages in German chess fora. Not your Harald.
