That message is taken out of context, ie. when the socalled "engine edition"
still seemed feasible. AnMon was one of the engines IIRC. The price of the
package were to be for the UCI versions while the WinBoard versions were to be
included "for free". The point wasn't that all UCI engines should cost
something, but that it offered those who were interested (and interesting) a
possible income.
