Nothing surprising. Crafty (like some other top amateur engines) is very EGTB-centric and weak in simple endgames without them(EGTB's). For example, it can't mate with KBNK. In particular position all you need is a special eval routine for KRPKR. My weak Bestia has it (very simple though) and will not loose such positions.
