I can not answer your questions. However, we do know somethings. Someone here has said that search engines are our friends. Why not poke around a bit with hypenated and unhyphenated names for whatever information may be found? Chess programmer ego is strong on this forum. They apparently don't like to feel threatened in there field. Some have decided to look for 'stolen' code. At least one has said he'd report the findings and readers are waiting. There are programming jobs more complex than a chess engine and people do these jobs everyday. Maybe some of them play chess and wish to write an engine. Not everyone buys into the 'it takes ten years' mentality. $0.02 which no one asked for, BK
