I am surprised very much with a noise lifted after release of the Ruffian. For what reason the assumption can appear that it is a clone of some other program? Because it plays strongly? Where did you saw the sources allowing to create something similar in strength? Because it is free? Not all is sold. Linux is free. Because it came from nowhere? And what about Arena or Galis WBTM? Had anyone heard about their authors before release of this products. May be, there are any other proofs? If not, let's not envy that someone is cleverer than we. The first version of the Yace was strong enough too, but nobody accused the author in plagiarism. I think, the sole problem is that Ruffian is already the competitor to the commercial programs and may become even stronger in the future. IMHO, if it were sold, there will be no such accusations. And if there is an opportunity to receive the good chess program free-of-charge what for to pay? Best regards, George
