It looks like it's gnuchessx which won't start. Is gnuchessx in the directory
you're starting xboard from? Try copying the gnuchessx into the directory you're
working from. To see if xboard itself is working, try xboard -ncp which starts
it without trying to start a chess program. It's not a lot of use, but this will
help you to ensure that xboard itself is working.
