Hi John/everyone, My main problem with CM9 is getting it to work behind NAT. I understand that it uses directplay for multiplayer... and I've read (among other articles): http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;q240429&LNG=ENG&SA=ALLKB Does CM9 use Directplay 7 or 8? Just to be sure, I forwarded all necessary ports (with limited success). Using a port monitoring tool, I definetly see port 47624 (DX7), followed by TCP and UDP on the 2300-2400 range. DX8 is supposedly only UDP. But because I see activitiy on 47624, this seems to indicate use of DX7. At any rate, just to be sure I forwarded 47624, 2300-2400, and 6073 to a machine behind NAT; it won't allow me to host (no one can connect), and only sometimes allows me to join a game. Sometimes I can't join. I know it must be possible, because I tried using a Dlink router with DMZ which forwards all traffic -- it works, proving it can be done behind NAT. So, somehow traffic is getting dropped. Anyone successfully do this? Second, regarding CM9000 3D boards -- I've installed it now on 5 machines (yes, I'm a geek!), on 2 of them the 3D boards won't work and causes CM9 to hang on entering a room. The video cards are lower end, but to make it work I had to manually edit the layout file for a 2D board. Would be better to have a cleaner way to do this -- perhaps from the main menu. Thanks for your help! -Brian
