Well, since you asked so politely. :-)

Last time you said you had a 16MB video card, this time it's an 8MB card. If it
really is an 8MB card, then I'm almost certain that this is a driver issue. Did
you try to update your drivers like I suggested? If not, then that's your best
chance at solving the problem (easily). If you DID try to update your drivers,
then here's how you can solve the problem.

In your "My Documents\Chessmaster 9000\Users" folder, there will be a subfolder
that has the name of your user name. In THAT folder, there will be a file called
USER.LAY, where "USER" is also your user name. Open that file for editing with
any text editor.

You will see several sections, one for each room in the game, such as
"[gameroom]", "[classroom]", etc. Each one of these sections has two entries
called "Board_set" and "Piece_set". For all of these EXCEPT the "lobbyroom", you
should change them to read:

board_set=<S>Black & White Metal
piece_set=<S>Black & White Figurine

Then, save the file and run CM9000.

That SHOULD do the trick. At this point, if you try to change your chess set,
the True3D option SHOULD be grayed out. But, if it is not, then DO NOT attempt
to switch to a True3D chess set -- the program will almost surely crash again.
