Just out of curiosity - how come you never tried Scid and Arena?
Two excellent pieces of free chess software. If you have databases
of chess games, some software is needed to manage them. I found that
SCID has features that not even CB8 has (I use both) - f.e. automatic
correction of name spelling [player names, events, places etc], automatic
setting of elos in games, a very effective double checker (finds pesky
doubles that CB8 misses], an even more sophisticated ECO system etc.
Arena is just a superb interface for Uci and Wb engines - with the joy
 of national anthems, logos etc.
