Rebel 9 is still in the first 5, so R10 should do better? As I know from a Chess boutique, here in Montreal, people rely a lot on the SSDF list as to which program to choose to buy. So, not being there could be as not existing for a lot of people? It is good for marketing to be as visible as possible. Here, the magazine of Quebec's Chess Federation publish the list from times to times, as well as Europe Echecs. So, despite what you feel about the SSDF managers and Chessbase's auto232, it is a good business practice to be on the SSDF, just for the NAME Rebel 10 to be known to the more chess afficionados as possible. And since not everyone do prefer Fritz 5 as a program, those would look at the list for good alternatives while not wanting to buy a "weak" probram (if, for an amateur, these things still exist?). I own Fritz 5 and I am waiting for a patch that might correct a few bugs I have been experiencing, the worce being the disappearance of book moves from the library. That sole one is pissing me off and if it is not corrected definitely by the patch, I will sincerely regret my choice... Another thing to consider is that Fritz 5 is only ONE program and that the SSDF would make R10 play against several other opponents too, and these could temper any problem R10 might have with the ONE program.
