Hi Jm,
I thought that 2+120 worked out very close to the 30/60 time control! Even if
you were using the 30/60 time control it would have been about the same amount
of time used for the entire game!
The difference with the 30 moves/60 min. would have given Larry C. more time to
think in the early stages of the games or if he moved faster through the opening
stage, then it would have allowed him more time in the later stages.
The 2+120 control made him use his time more evenly throughout the game, but
actually this control maybe allowed him just a little more time for the middle
game, because of it forcing him to move at an even pace!
They both have their advantages and disadvantages, but the 30 moves in 60 min.
allows the player to determine how he wants to allocate his time through the
stages of the game!
