The UCI protocoll doesn't send the game result to the engine, that's the reason
why engines normaly can't do book learning in UCI mode. On the other side the
Winboard protocol sends the game result to the engine So try Ruffian as a
Winboard engine under a GUI that supports the WInboard protocol to see if book
leerning works then.
