There is a real
difference between when a marketing guy 'announces' a new
chip for a certain manufacturer and when it actually can be
bought in shops all around you (so not talking about
xperimental nonsense that's available for a few who sign
all kind of mean NDA's).

It's complete nonsense to believe that today intels marketing manager
is better in announcing something sooner in advance and that tomorrow
AMDs press manager again sucks that much that he didn't announce it sooner
than the intel guy.

Then suddenly alpha is gone :)

The CPU manufacturers are *daily* busy doing vague statements which never
turn out to be true.

I remember the many years before the K7 was even dual and it still isn't
running 8 cpu's. I remember the many years the merced would get out and
then the thing renamed to itanium sucked ass, even native compiles for it
(exactly 3 times slower than a mckinley at the same clockspeed for DIEP).

Anyway, there is a mckinley now. There is not a k7 running 8 processors yet.
