Subject: TB experiment with different cache settings (surprising results)

I have just started using the 5 piece TB's and I noticed that on my laptop the
disk just can't cope so I tried adjusting the cache size to see if I could
improve things. My results are interesting so I thought I would share (see
below).

My laptop (Win2000) is a PIII 1133mhz with 512mb ram all tests were performed
with all other applications (except anti-virus) turned off (a test with AV
turned off will run later).

I ran tests with 4,8,16,32 and 128mb or cache for TB's at no time did the PC run
out of physical memory.

The best performance was achieved with 8mb cache!! I can only assume that it is
better to allow Windows to manage the disk cache.

The test was with Crafty 18.15.
