also getting hardware to work at it is hard. you even need an 'automounter'
("WHAT??" asks the beginner) to install YOURSELF to get sound to work.

default things like soundblaster live and such and the cheapest network
cards do not work. you need to recompile kernel for that.

Not beginner work.

So it's progressing, but only for nerds to nerds.
