Subject: Fritz-Kramnik, a pattern developing ...

Hi,

Mr. Kramnik is out to win, of that there is no doubt. His endgame technique and
play in early middlegames/endgames without queens is unparalled. He is not
really playing anti-computer chess, so much as his own style -- which is well
suited for computer play.

The queens have come off the board in both games at move 8 and move 7
respectively. Let's face it, programs have more trouble in these resulting
positions which are far more delicate positionally, and no chance of hairy
tactics. It's a little sad, but understandable I guess.

There are six more games to go. In those six games, how many more times will the
queens come off early, say by move 12? It's not too difficult to go through
opening theory and scan for reasonably good lines where early queen swaps occur.
Maybe I've watched one too many conspiracy movies ;-)) and the World Champ is
simply playing the best moves on the board ...

Is the Fritz team using the packaged book or a special one? Can it be changed
between rounds? Hmmm ...

Cheers,
Jim
