Hi: I downloaded and I submited the trial program to a test with three different chess programs. With Ruffian, I started it with and without the Hare thing and played h3 as first move for white, then I counted Knodes and changes of speed. Without it, Ruffian -in my Athlon 1.5+- goes from 912 Kn to 812 and then 724 With it, goes from 997 Kn, then 812 and 724 In Hiarcs, both measures are identical: 144 Kn in the Hiarcs mark test In fritz 6, the same thing, without other variation than insignificant statiscal one. Conclusion: Hare does not do good neither bad in terms of CPU speed for chess prorams at least. Probably the desfragmenter works OK, but you can get dozens of them for free. Fernando
