I think the real problem of game #1 was: Since the "Berlin Wall" was known from the match Kasparov - Kramnik, I wonder why the Ruy Lopez wasn't disabled in the Fritz book. Why run into an opening which is probably the strongest concrete-like defense of chess history when Kramnik plays it with Black? Even people who never have researched Kramnik's repertoire will know that the Berlin defense is a "drawing weapon" of Kramnik even Kasparov couldn't win against; it was mentioned often during his Wch match. Maybe the Fritz team's opening preparation was done from the viewpoint to avoid variants Kramnik wins often as good as possible, more than to avoid lines he usually draws with. Probably recommendable when you have to play a World Champion. :o)) (But I would have disabled 3.Bb5 for White in Fritz' book.) I just hope Fritz won't play the Ruy Lopez again during the match...
