Depending on where you are, you may also be able to buy one economically from a
local vendor.  For example, I just got a quote from a local vendor in the
Silicon Valley area for a full machine with dual 450mhz processors, 10GB drive,
CD drive, and 128MB RAM (no monitor) for $3,100.  This machine is completely
built and has 450Mhz chips - not overclocked.  This vendor is Victs Computers
(www.victs.com).  You may be able to find something similar close to where you
live.
