at the moment when kramnik played Rd5+ you can be sure that he had calculated
the win 100%. there is a simple rule in chess, which goes like this: "never
trade into a pawn endgame if you are not 100% sure of it's outcome". kramnik had
a different win with rxa5 and if he traded into the pawn ending he was 100%
sure. those who suggest that time trouble might have been a factor here don't
seem to know that a) kramnik had already calculated the win and could have
played the rest of the game a tempo and b) kramnik could have adjourned the game
on the next move and looked at it at home for a whole day!
