It goes almost without saying that CT15 is stronger than Ruffian. The probability of anything else would be staggering IMO. Most new editions of Fritz or Tiger has (more or less) been shown to be the strongest. There are several other factors like overcoming the freeware/commercial gap, development time available and no tuning against the latest commercial versions etc. Furthermore, the availability of Ruffian will turn tuning the other was as well. Despite these current and future problems for freeware engines to keep up, the actual gap between CT15 and Ruffian is sufficiently small to provide match wins opportunity for both sides. Albeit more so for Tiger than Ruffian, obviously. That makes it even more sad to watch the affiliated audience quarrel and hurle insults at the opposing engine over a few short matches with little statistical meaning. Bickering that includes one of the programmers no less. That's good behaviour indeed. My problem (yes, yet another problem) with this moronic behaviour IMO, is the narrowmindedness of the procedure. Is it impossible to appreciate a good commercial engine and a good freeware engine at the same time without behaving like a zealot for either side? I hope so, because I'm getting mighty fed up with the ignorant commentary following every single match. Including this match (and this commentary). Regards, Mogens
