I don't know how the prices in the Bay Area compare with other areas, but I
agree they're likely to be lower.

I'm sure by shopping around you can beat this price, since this quote was for a
corporation, and I required them to provide top-quality components, and warranty
and follow-up service.  I suspect shopping around a bit would allow you to cut
the cost a few hundred.
