Actually, your test indicates that it doesn't make any difference in blitz, as largest rating - error margin < smallest rating :) In the fastest lightning games, a too large hash for Crafty is not good. In any timecontrol other than that, larger is generally better. It also depends on the program. Sjeng and ChessTiger for example play even the quickest timecontrols OK even with huge hash values. -- GCP
