Go up one level in this thread
Hi both: Comp Vs Comp ratings were very relevant when the general level of the industry was low, so to know that one program was -say- 50 points better than other was very significative to know that this last one in all probability was going to play better chess against us, also. Could not be other way. But now, when almost all top programs are very strong, Comp Vs Comp ratings tends to lose meaning. We can now trust all are capable to beating us badly and so the issue of style, features, etc grows day by day. To lose against a 2500 or 2550 player is the same thing: to lose graciously after a pretty game is an altoguether different matter. Fernando
