Not too many of us around.) Thanks for your input! I have downloaded and installed numerous video drivers, including the latest release and beta versions from nVidia. The problem seems to be independent of which driver is loaded. It's as if the computer does not recognize the card during boot until after the time it chooses a driver (which would also explain why it does permit a driver to be installed AFTER booting is completed).
