Funny, I was thinking of posting a boxing analogy too.

Top GMs are like highly skilled, highly trained boxers. Suddenly instead of a
traditional opponent in the ring, there is a 5-year-old child with a machine
gun. For awhile, the boxers are getting killed! This is a new type of
opponent. The child does not understand boxing but it has vicious weapons that
can destroy the boxer before his superior understanding and technique can be a
factor. Gradually, though, boxers begin to understand that this opponent is not
a better boxer but simply has different weapons than the opponents they had
trained for their entire careers. Boxers begin to train for this type of
opponent. It takes awhile, but boxers begin to win matches against this new
opponent. Even when the child is given two machine guns instead of one, and
both machine guns are twice as fast as before, the boxer can still win the match
if he is highly skilled, well trained, and careful.
