The rating system is closely based on the USCF system (which is generally about 100 points higher than the FIDE ratings), and if you play enough rated games (at least 50, but preferably closer to 100) I would say with a pretty high certainty that your rating inside the program would be within 100 points of whatever your USCF rating would be. The hardware is irrelevant, since the program makes adjustments based on CPU speed and the personality settings. I do not know of any other program that attempts to give you a rating, but I would suspect that there must be something out there. jm
