Hi Randy,
If you're an average player i would serious look into www.WorldChessNetwork.com
because as a Gold member (cost-$49.95) you are offered so much in return!

a) A couple times a day you get to watch a game between two Grandmasters who
play a 25 minute per-side time control. They comment on each one of their moves
which is a great learning tool. These type of games are called "Bantner games".

b) Another very interesting type game is called "Predict a Move" where you are
given a certain amount of time to predict what the next move will be made by the
Grandmaster playing. You are given points according to if your move was what the
Grandmaster made plus additional points for how fast you predicted it.
There are prizes for the most points for the month and also prizes for who had
the highest points in one single game!

c) They have a "Community Challenge" where everyone inputs their prediction on
what move should be played against the Grandmaster and the move which is made by
the audience is determined by which move had the highest percentages. You can
try to convince the other players to make the move you think is best, but the
move which is made that had the highest percentage voted on is the one that is
made on the board. The drawback is that not always the best move is made as
sometimes there are patzers playing that affect the outcome of a move!

d) They also have several times per day a chance to play personaly one on one
against a Grandmaster. The time control is very fast but it's still can be alot
of fun to say you played a Grandmaster and who knows you might win!

e) They have "Live Broadcast games" of many top Grandmaster events through out
the year. Right now they are showing the "Kramnik vs.Deep Fritz Match" in real
time (live).

f) Through the day and evening they hold Tournaments at various time controls in
which they give prizes to the winners!

e) You can go to the address i gave and register for a free 10 day trial in
which you have all the benifits of a Gold member. This gives you unlimited
number of games you may play plus all the activities i mentioned ,if you don't
join then you become a regular member who has very limited benifits and can only
play un-rated games. "Gold members get a rating and their rating adjusts
according to your wins and loses.

There is also a "Silver membership" for about $20. that allows you to play rated
games but only around 12 per day and you are limited to some of the events!

World Chess Network is a great place to learn and play. They have a very good
control over watching out for people using computers to assist them and they are
very prompt to remove those people!

Check it out and try their free 10 day Gold member trial. think you will like it

Regards,
      Terry
