That saying doesn't fit here IMO. The danger is that computer chess gets a loosers image when Fritz can't at least score one win. And that won't be good at all. It would be a negative message to the "uninformed" (non-insiders), and we would here all the old prejudice nonsense in the media about what computers can't do. It simply means IMO, that computerchess would be less attractive for new fans/customers to start with. When you say it was like people stopped talking after the D.B. match '97, the same people might now say "Ah, we were right: Computers are incapable of beating the best humans" and again stop talking. Again, it's not about the total result (only few expected a Fritz win), but if Fritz can win at least one game. (I just can't be 100% wrong about that... but the match isn't over yet.
