In the last few days, I have been reading the threads associated with the Kramnik vs DF match and find many of the comments to be most interesting and enlightening. Hopefully, all chess programmers will be reading these same comments even if they chose not to post bulletins here. We are in the middle of another "great chess experiment." Just as the case of the Kasparov vs DB experiment, the games will be discussed at length, and maybe even a few books written about it. Where else, except at CCC, are there so many experienced chess programmers? One thing I like about CCC is that the reader gets "instant feedback" within hours, if not minutes, after the moves are played. I believe that the observations made here will have a very positive impact on future developments in chess software. Of particular value seems the discussions of specific moves which were made in the games. I was especially intrigued by the brief discussion about how optimization to win computer vs computer tournaments might have caused the top programs to be very sub-optimal for play against humans. [not enough chess knowledge] Maybe we'll see separate anti-computer and anti-human programs in the future? [Depends on economics and marketing, I suppose.] Bob Bob
