Well, it's something free. By not getting something for free you aren't being punished. No one is forcing you to pay money. If it's something you would enjoy, spend $30 for a 6-month subscription, watch the Hsu chat, watch the comp-GM games, play lots of chess, and have fun. It's less than $1 a week, which is only cents per day. Besides, if you don't want to pay, I'm sure the chat will be posted somewhere by someone, just like the comp-GM games are. If it's important that you see it first, then you may have to pay for it. If you can wait until after it's over to read the chat, then wait until Sunday night when someone posts it. I have a feeling that the hundreds of dollars you saved by not having to purchase Windows would cover $30 for 6 months of ICC membership. Then there's the money you didn't have to pay for MS Office and other expensive products that you get for free with linux. Russell
