Here are a few ideas, some already expressed. Any others? (1) Someone suggested that at least one top GM should assist the programmers to make the software as "anti-human" as is appropriate. Give them all the time they need. (2) Allow programmers more freedom in "tweaking" the program between rounds. (3) Give the human World Champion MORE time to evaluate the software. (4) Make reasonable provisions for "crashes." (5) Do not give the opening book to the human World Champion before the match. (6) Provide sufficient financial resources for the project. The computer [hardware] should be impressive. (7) Make arrangements in advance for the exhaustive analysis of the results. Analysis by both GMs and programmers. That'll do for starters.
