Subject: Improvements in Computer Chess over the years

While we know that there has been phenomenal progress in the ideas and
alogrithms over the years, do we have some actual results from latest versions
of programs versus oldest versions of the same program? I was just wondering if
anyone has played recent versions of top chess programs like Chessmaster 9000
versus some really ancient version like CM 1000/2000 which used techniques like
brute force and minimax. Or for that matter Craft 18 vs Crafty (1.0?).
Theoretically, shouldn't the recent version lose none of its games?
