Other suggestions for achievable subgoals: - a tic-tac-toe program - a connect four program - a program to play a simple ending such as K+Q vs K - a program to play pawn endgames You could of course just download the source to a complete program such as TSCP or something similar, but I think you'd be better off trying to write something of your own first.
