the match lost all it's credibility when Enrique Irazoqui made clear
that no other program is allowed to participate.

Eric Schillers correspondance shows that at least HE had
concerns about NOT letting different programs participate.

If they would have invited

Rebel
Shredder
Tiger
Diep
Hiarcs
Fritz
...

before the match and would have chosen the best program by letting them
outplay the best, than the credibility would have been there.

the best program gets kramnik.

and fights it out.

but this way...

its a PR campaign for a dump program.

Any other program (like Shredder or Hiarcs or Rebel...) would have done better
IMO. Those programs KNOW how to play when the position is blocked,
when it is a closed opening. Those programs invent an idea, and do something.

Fritz is a program designed to beat other chess programs. and it was
never very succesfully in this area. because it most often wins because of
search depth. The championships fritz won are rare, and if it won, not many
others participated.
