Both of my favorite freeware Mac chess programs find Qe3 quickly.
On my 180Mz 604e system:

MacChess 4.0: stays with Qe3 after 5 seconds.
Eval goes positive at 7 seconds,
rises above +1 pawn at 68 seconds.
               (4Mb hash)

Sigma Chess Lite 4.0: stays with Qe3 after 6 seconds.
Eval goes postive at 15 seconds (+2.9 pawns).
Eval goes to +6.5 pawns at 70 seconds.

(Note: both programs available through <http://www.gambitsoft.com/mac.htm> )
