I also think it was a mistake to "go for art" with the potentially unsound sacrifice. It seems that these guys don't want to play anticomputer style at inappropriate times. I suspect he tried something similar with Fritz on a slower machine and then proceeded to pound the stuffings out it it. But on the hot hardware, a new solution was found by the machine. Just a wild guess.
