This is more of a generic question about which engine parameter settings have the most positive effects on fast time games, and which settings are best to change for long time settings. For example, there is a note in the Fritz 7 help files that states: "The default parameters are the one the programmers consider the strongest for general play." Now when they say general play, I take that a meaning it is not optimized for either fast or long time control games. With that being said, which engine values would you change to perhaps slighly improve fast time games? How about long timed games? I hear some talk about increasing selective search (ss) to improve play in long games. What about changing piece values, tablebase depth, king safety etc. I'm not asking for specific settings for any particular engine, just the settings that are pretty much understood to effect and improve fast or long time games on any engine (ie Chessmaster, Shredder, Chess Tiger, Fritz etc.) Thanks in advance, JW
