Do you think that I am insane for making such a statement? Non-religeous people opposed to the idea might assert: "All life is composed of living cells, either prokaryotic or eukaryotic." The implication of such an assertion is that if it's not cellular then it could not possibly be alive. Religeous people opposed to the idea may assert: Chess computers are man-made and therefore could not possibly be made by God. If it was not made by God then it's not alive. Life is created by God and only by God. Programmers are not allowed to be utilized in the process nor, in any way, to fit into the "creation equation." [HAL was just fiction, of course, but Fritz is real.] A biologist might, "objectively," cite the properties of known life forms and assert that "Anything that does not have ALL of these properties is not alive." But I say to you: Fritz IS alive, in spite of all objections. I just KNOW that it's true! We need to start treating Fritz with more respect. Bob D.
