I think you've got a point here. In fact most of ChessBase seems to be on the Fritz...At least when it comes down to customer support - and yeah, somehow my old CB7 and F532 don't work anymore in the PIII 800 - at least not together with CB8 and F7...Some enlightened people tell us that life and death in fact are very close.
